APPLICATION LETTERS


1.  Define what an application letter is.


An application letter is a document that you attached to your curriculum vitae with the objective to show your skills and give information about what is the reason which you are interesting in working in that company.

2.  When do you write an application letter?



You write an application letter when you want to apply for a job because it let you have more possibilities to get the job.

3.  What is the structure of an application letter?

Header

You can begin with your information or employer’s contact information. The information that you must to put is:
Name
Address
Phone number
Email
Date

Salutation

Put the last name after Dear Mr/Mrs, if you don’t know the last name how is directed the letter you can put the name of the company or the person’s position who is directed the letter.

Introduction
In this paragraph you have to write what is the purpose of job in which you are interesting and how you know about it. Also you can write a little about your skills with the objective to give to know your purpose.

Body

Explain why you are interesting in the job and which are the skills possessed by you to satisfy with the activities corresponding to the position. You can use examples to demonstrate your abilities. Do it in a paragraph or two.

Closing
Write again the skill that will give a great contribution to the company and a gratefulness by the consideration and attention.

Signature

Is important that you write your signature at the end in the next way,

Handwritten, followed by your typed name. If this is an email, simply include your typed name, followed by your contact information.


4.  Write 5 important TIPS for writing application letters.


1. A letter of application should be no more than one page long.

2. Write your application letter with the next conditions:

·         single-spaced.
·         align your text to the left
·         use about one in margins

3.  Use the most usual fonts like Calibri, Times new roman or Arial.

4. Proof your application letter before to send it. It helps you to found errors that while you write it didn’t note.

5. Verify, if the information about the employer and company names is correct.
